Across Sydney Catholic Schools, young artists are telling powerful stories through portraiture. The 2026 SCS Portrait Prize attracted 725 student submissions, with 93 artworks from 40 schools selected for exhibition.

Each portrait captures not just a face, but the connection and story behind someone important in the artist’s life. Now in its fifth year, the Portrait Prize continues to nurture creativity and artistic growth among students from Kindergarten to Year 12, encouraging them to develop both their technical skills and emotional insight.

Today we paused to honour ANZAC Day and reflect on the courage, sacrifice and service of the ANZACs.
We are incredibly proud of our student leaders, who represented our school with respect and pride as they joined students from other local schools to lay a wreath and share readings in front of our wider community.

Yesterday, our school community gathered in remembrance for ANZAC Day — lest we forget. Our Year 6 students began the morning by leading us in a thoughtful and reverent ANZAC Day liturgy, offering a moving prayer that brought our school together to acknowledge this important day.

Following this, our Drama Masterclass, Choir and Dance Ensemble presented a moving performance based on the Easter story. Their talent, dedication and hard work were truly evident. We commend each of them for bringing such depth and emotion to the stage. A heartfelt thank you also to the teachers who guided, supported and prepared our students so beautifully.
As we reflect on sacrifice, hope and new life, we are reminded of the words from John 11:25: “I am the resurrection and the life.”
